Several have been seen:

No Caseback seriel number higher than 450.

All dated 1944.

Anyone familiar with or have information on this rarety?

This is one of the rarest military timepieces out there.  They were said to be prototypes but the military markings and serial numbers would seem to suggest that they were in fact very limited production. This particular one changed hands on EBay last year for around $1500.  If you own it put it away in the safe deposit.

Is it similar to the Wrist Alarm?? I don't understand the 3 Crowns.

I believe the crowns rotate the outer chapter rings... is that correct?

Right you are. The top crown rotates the 60 minute dial and the bottom crown rotates the 12 hour dial.

So, if I grasp the concept, this is like the rotating bezel on a dive watch - it allows you to use it as a countdown timer?
