crystal/model reference documents

Submitted by teakyou on December 31, 2021 - 9:36am

I recently bought a 1960 Midshipman, and the crystal needs to be replaced. Is there any documentation that lists a crystal part number for a given Bulova model and case date code, or do I need to measure the crystal and try to find one based on the dimensions?

Thanks,

TQ

Is there a number ink stamped inside the case back?

I haven't been able to remove the M0 caseback, so I'm not sure how it's marked inside. I'll try again tomorrow, maybe I'll have better luck in the new year. I'm sure it's a Midshipman, though, it's identical to a couple other watches in the database, right down to the short blue sweep seconds hand.

These don't seem to have a case model reference stamped in the inside case.

However it should just be a simple case of measuring the diameter of the crystal and buying another with a similar profile (height),

Thanks for the information. I saw the crystal diameter that was posted in the other example, but I wanted "official" confirmation of dimensions, and maybe a part number for the correct crystal.

I should be able to track it down with the information you provided.

Thanks again,

TQ
