Crown Replacement / Acquisiton

Submitted by VintageWatchCo… on August 24, 2021 - 7:01pm

Hi,

I guess this would also fall under "Watch Parts & Trade". I have recently inherited a 1948 Arnold timepiece from my step fathers, father. I used this website to identify the watch (thank you all). The crown stem is in rough condition and I will most likely need to clean it. I believe it might be a bit rusty. Recommended cleaning method / solution would be nice. Also, I was wondering if anyone know's where I can purchase a crown for this piece, are the crowns specific for this watch. I noticed in the adverts on this website, for the Arnold. The crown says "Bulova" on it. I would like to get this timepiece running again. I was told by a local repairmen that it would cost 3-400 dollars, and he said it wasn't worth spending the money.

I would like to see if I could fix this piece myself (if I cannot, then so be it). The movement looks great.

Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated :).

The Movement Model is 10BC. I will check into the link you have provided. Thank you.

I'm curious as to where you live? 3-400 sound VERY expensive. I assume the fellow did not want to work?

Ontario, Canada. There are not many shops around this area that are able to repair watches. I might have to look into the city. I presume he just did not want to work on the watch.
