*If I am posting this in the wrong I have a Goddess of Time “W” model watch from 1960 that I’ve been wearing nearly every day for the past couple of months, but recently I’ve been very worried about damaging it with water. I’m pretty sure that this particular model was not marketed as “waterproof” and as it was my grandmother’s I am especially careful with it. I even take the watch off every time I need to wash my hands... However I wanted to ask about this. How easy would it be to damage the watch through water exposure? Images of my watch are currently the only ones uploaded to the site for this particular model, if seeing it would help.. Thank you very much in advance!
Hello gkutny, Yes you should take care not to get the watch wet while you are wearing it. I don't think this model would have been water proof. It is wonderful that you are wearing it and enjoying your heirloom from your grandmother. If you haven't had it serviced I would recommend doing that as soon as possible or you risk damaging the movement.
.....and don't forget to have a professional service done every other year or so. These watches can last for generations if properly cared for. Glad to hear that you're enjoying it. A watch is arguably one of the most personal items any of us will ever wear. Each time you glance at it think of the hundreds and hundreds and HUNDREDS of times your grandmother glanced at it too! She's still with you.
