Swap movement, bridge or not?

Submitted by RSMT on October 11, 2020 - 3:04am

Recently I bought a decent Bulova Senator with year Mark M0 on the case. The movement seems not original as it has N0 as year mark. Fortunately I have a few 11AF movements in stock (L9, M0 and M3) which leaves me with 3 options:

1) Bad luck. Leave the N0 in.

2) Replace only the N0 barrel bridge for a M0 bridge.

3) Replace the complete N0 movement for the M0 movement.

Appreciate your comments...

Depending of how much work you want to do. If the M0 11AF is all complete and in good working order it would be best to use that movement. If not and you need to swap parts around you'll just swap the barrel bridge should do the job.

In the end it should look like this:

Bulova 11AF 1960 watch movement

Look forward to seeing the end result.

I've seen a few of these movements with the 'N0' stamp, so I think it was original and possibly a mis-stamp. A correct 1970 bridge would be in the gold color.

The 11AF was no longer in production by 1970, these 11AF movements were stamped N0 by mistake.  I have two M0 watches with movements stamped N0, I think the error adds to the character of these watches.
