N3 2182 BF Casememt replacement.

Submitted by Ryanneal on December 19, 2018 - 8:52pm

The crown mechanism jams and. I longer easily flips the date.

Also, the minute hand seems to run at 1/2 speed.

Something onviosuly has broken inside.

Is is simple enough to just replace the movement with a functioning. 2182 ?

the estimate I received for repair was $1000+

replawemt movements on eBay seem to be around $200.

Accutron movements are not easy to repair, owing to scarcity of certain parts, and degradation of electrical components, etc. The most easily damaged part, the index wheel, is in very short supply as no more were made after the line was discontinued.

There are some specialist repair places in the US if you search them with Google, and this is your best option. Very few watchmakers repair these movements. The NAWCC may also have some links to repairs on the website by location/area.

I’m not considering repairing it.  The quote I received was $1000

i rather thought I would just buy another functioning 2182 movement, and swap it out.   Swap out the entire movement.

I just didn’t know whether you can easily swap movements?

I would recommend a watchmaker do the swap, but yes, it is possible. Finding running movts in good condition for this type of watch is a nightmare. I have several I have been working on for YEARS. There are a lot of movts out there, and 99% of them have issues, if they function at all.
