Luminous Dial

 What does luminous dial mean? You have hands and hour markers but if the hour markers are gold or chrome how do you have a luminous dial? Is it the dial itself ? And one more question who was supplying watch bands to Bulova in the 40's,50's and 60's. I'm sure there are a few but just the major contributors.

This '63 'JET CLIPPER' has luminous Hands and Dial.

The Hands are 'lumed' in the Center and the Dial reigister is accented with luminous dots on the Hour.

Ok yes that is  the norm but the way I read it sounded like the dial itself was . Thank you for the answer.
