I am looking to buy a watch which has a 13AE movement but I can see no record of this movement. Has any one come across one of these movements ? Thankyou
terry
The 13AE and 13AF share the same ebauche, which is the FHF 8044. You will need to find the actual Bulova movt, as the FHF one does have some differences, and this is common.
Watches with this movt include the Douglas, Templan and Lone Eagle, as shown in the database, but there are probably others. I don't have this movt but I have seen it in the forementioned watches.
The movement is dated 1936 and has a sweep second hand with an inner 60 second face. I believe they are some times referred to as a doctors watch . The case is similar to a 1933 Oakley. I have seen a similar dial advertised on eBay in the USA. My concern was whether this was a genuine Bulova movement as there is virtually no information about the 13AE.
I am currently on holiday and will have the watch next week when I will attempt to post some photos.
Thankyou for your assistance.

I wouldn't say Bulova movts are never faked, but I've never seen such a one. It is usually very easy to identify fakes of almost any kind.
In the case of Bulova, your movt should bear the stampings that ID most Bulovas, and from this age range they are quite standard. It will be stamped Bulova and have the calibre stamped as well. It will have the square stamp for 1936 and the import code on the balance bridge for Bulova.
