11AF Movements

I would like to stir the pot a little if thats OK.

I see a lot of miss matches on cases and movements involving the 11AF movement.

More specifically.....What are the chances that someone at Bulova miss-stamping the 11AF in 1960 with an N instead of an M?

My 1959 non-conforming (Senator) has the L9 on the case and N0 on the 11AF movement. Jabs has a 1960 Senator in the database with an 11AF movement with an N0 date code.

And just for gigglesI purchased an obviously "Original" 1960 Senator over on the bay that wasn't functional to find out if it had an 11AF movement...which it does, and to my surprise it has an N0 date code just like my other one and Jabs'

Both of mine are pictured below...the 60 senator first and then my "non-conformer

This is my 1959 non-conformer (Senator) with the N0 11AF

Is it possible that Bulova mis-stamped "a few" and used them anyway ???

I worked for a Bulova service center in the late '70s.

We would have trays of movements, and swap them out instead of repairing.

No one paid attention to date codes.

I have no idea how far back that practice went.

I have 2 senators. A 59 and a 60 as well as another panel member with a 60 senator and all 3 have 11AF's with a 1970 date code. Even in the service center what are the chances of 3 different watches from who knows where in the world winding up with 1970 date codes?
