Watch Description

Hello everyone! Adding another Bulova to the database. Not sure of what this model is, it seems that we have another one listed as unknown. Back of the case is stamped A9 and movement is marked J9, so it seems to definitely be a 1949. It does look very similar to an ad for a 1945 Bulova Augusta, though this one does not have diamonds(so maybe a less expensive variant?). Looking forward to what you all have to say! Thanks!

I feel I have seen this watch before but have not found an ad yet.  I will keep looking but it is not Augusta because that model has two diamonds and your watch does not, great job hunting for an ad though!

Same here, feels like a déjà vu moment.

Also hitting a brick wall with finding the other example that I thought we had.

1949 Bulova Unknown for now it seems.

Ah you found the example I was looking for. I didn't go back far enough. Like the example on Watchophilia this one also looks to have the white gold highlights.

That is good to know! So I'm just wondering how you guys find "new" Bulova ads? I constantly look on Google, Etsy, and eBay but I am mainly seeing the same things. I know some of the ads look like they come from old newspapers, I'm not sure how to access these without a subscription online (or without looking through microfiche or something similar)...

They come up from time to time on eBay etc., which is nice because they can be scanned and uploaded to the site.  Other than that there are a couple of newspaper sites but you are correct they need a subscription.
