Watch Description

This was given to my father in 1967 and seems to be in very nice shape. I don't know much about it or how it works and was intimidated to open the case.  I would like to get it ticking again and learn what model Accutron it is. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to myBulova, I'm rather partial to heirloom watches, congratulations on an amazing keepsake from your father.

The BAD news is that you watch will never tick, The GOOD news is that Accutron watches DON'T tick, they hum. Your watch is powered by a battery and was state of the art when it was new. There are several watchmakers out there who are capable of working on your watch but they are highly specialized and not so inexpensive. Do not trust this watch to anyone who is not a genuine  Accutron specialist. Depending on where you live we might be able to recommend someone.

I think your watch is an 1967 Accutron Model 412 like this one, thanks for sharing it.

Hi Geoff!

Thank you for the information, and the example- cool to see the inside of the watch.

I live in Geneva, NY. We only have one local jewelery shop and I'm pretty sure they won't specialist in Accutron.

Should I start off by getting a proper battery? (And what is that!?)

The watch probably should be professionally cleaned as well.

If you know anyone near the 14456 zip code that would be super.

I've had a good time looking at all the nice timepieces one here.

Love your reply!  Remember I'm the cheapest and fairest 214 and 218 Accutron for service and restoration.

Welcome to myBulova and thank you for sharing your father's watch with us.  Heirloom watches are the best and yours is very nice!  It is well worth getting your father's watch serviced (cleaned and new battery).  Then you can enjoy it and keep it in good shape to pass down again someday.
