Found this yesterday at an antiques mall buried in the back of a case. It had a scratched and discolored crystal and I was pleasantly surprised when I replaced the crystal to find a beautiful shiny like new dial. This appears to be a 1955 Bulova 23 "H" based on the 1955-57 Linebook. The case is 10KT yellow gold plate with a stainless back and L5 date code. The 23J movement is a 10BPAC also with an L5 date code. Overall in lightly worn condition and running great without a service.

Kathy, I live in a small town in Florida with an arts district with many antique stores. My experiences have been similar, but I may add if antique dealers find vintage watches they usually end up getting scrapped for gold content like pawn shops. Or if you do find old high end watches the prices are crazy. Folks use google and e-bay as their measure of what a watch is worth. We all know in the horological world this is bad. If you find a vintage watch, ask for the paperwork or any history. Once I got lucky and found an unused 1930's Bulova in a old store in Vancouver, BC. It still had all the tags and original display box and case. And of course if its a Bulova, this is the best place to find out what it really is.
