Watch Description

This appears to be a 1947 Bulova Ambassador.   The case is 14KT Rose Gold Filled including the case back.   The dial is copper with yellow gold applied gold even number hour markers.   The movement is a 7AK 21 J with a square date code.   This one is in really good condition.  The photos don't give it justice.

Should be His Excellency beginning in 1947.

Rose gold variants were Ambassador 'B' and then His Excellency 'HH'

Yellow - Amb 'A' / HE 'GG'

White - Amb 'C' / HE 'II'

Nice watch, I really like the watches of the "rose gold era". Jim, did you find an ad dated 1947 for Ambassador indicating a possible name overlap in 1947?

I found no ads from 1947 for either the His Excellency or Ambassador name for this model.  The latest ad on this site is for an Ambassador from September 1946.

I noticed these are not 1947 ads and do not show the case and copper even marker dial configuration of the subject watch.  Clearly they were part of the Excellency Group but do we have any ads confirming the His Excellency variant?   I should also note the date code for the movement is 1946 while the case has a 1947 serial number.  Not sure if this makes it a late 1946 Ambassador or early 1947 His Excellency.

I'm in the same place, Jim. It's an either/or based on literally month of production. I'm inclined to follow the 1946 ad and call the watch an Ambassador.

I'd be dating it by the NEWEST date which is 1947, we should always take the newer code. 1947 Bulova His Excellency HH

I personally like to go with the case date.

1947 Bulova His Excellency "HH"
