Thank you. I poked around for ads for the watches I posted today, but had no luck.

You are most welcome. I suspect this one had no real name designation based on the date, and was just categorized by the stock number. By the ad, it appears "Railroad approved" was a feature as opposed to a name.

It is a bit of a shame they stopped naming them. It makes researching a find more interesting to give it a name instead of a number.

It appears yours is the first example in the database, congrats!. For the sake of future research I would be inclined to label it as

I looked at this one several times over the past few weeks. I was hesitant because it needs repairs and the price was a bit high. I finally talked him down, and here it is.

1979 Bulova Accutron Quartz Railroad is a good match.

Yes, 1979 Accutron Quartz... the reason the Day dial is stuck is because the calipers inside the movement requite a drop of oil each year as the manual says. Or the spring tension goes away and the caliper won't click to the next day. It requires a removal of the day wheel and re-calibration and possible parts replacement. Nonetheless a expensive job. Thank you. It seems like it wants to move. As my collection increases, as do my expenses in upkeep. I'm very interested in suggestions on where and what to get for oil. I hope to set up a dedicated bench in my workshop for watches. I'll probably purchase a few more "Bolivia"s to experiment on. Of course, any major repairs are going to a specialist. I really miss my watchmaker in Hendersonville. He was extremely talented and very reasonable.
