Watch Description

1965 (M5) Bulova Chronograph. Valjoux 92 movement marked Bulova Watch Co M5 Swiss 13EB. 35.1mm , 41.88mm lug to lug , 12.06mm thick(crystal dependent), case is gold plated 40 micron. My suspicion is the the dial has been redone with a little artistic license taken on the Bulova logo. This one has applied raised letters, the few others I have seen have had printed lettering.

Interesting note for this watch is that the case number is only 58 away in sequence from another 65 chrono documented here. Either a happy coincidence, which happens, or a possibly a very short run of these. Also, in looking at mine, and the other example documented here, the case serial number and the Bulova 2 character date code appear to be hand etched or engraved. Another indicator that there may have only been a short run of these watches.

Thanks for that, Geoff, I guess I would make the distinction between 'raised' and 'very raised,' almost an exaggeration. I seem to remember the heavier logo being on some dive models as well. I looked through some of the models in the db, and sometimes the height of the logo isn't that obvious.

WOW - this is a cool watch Chris, great find, I wondered how soon we'd see it.

Bulova "International' operated in Bienne (Biel), Switzerland. We have many watches in our dB that we attribute to this factory, including some Accutrons but so far only two chronographs. We have at least one Line Book from Bulova that represents this 1960's Bienne time period but your watch isn't in it. Between the war years and the 1970's hey day of the Deep Sea and other chronographs we only have these two chronos, congrats on finding one!

1965 Bulova Chronograph (note that I leave off the "International" moniker as it really isn't part of the documented name, In fact very few of the Bienne watches ever had names)
