Watch Description

Did my best to fill in what I could as I am trying to find out more about his watch which was my Mothers'. The original band is shown beside the watch.

Inside is shows:

Swiss 47 so 1947

6AH in a rectangle

"Unadjusted" and "17 Seventeen Jewels"

Bulova Watch Co.

and some charatcer plus KW?

I think its either 14K or 18K yellow gold?

Behind the claps on theoriginal band it says Kreisler USA.

Any help apprecaited!

Many thanks for allowing me to join and post this watch!

Just after posting this I notice that the back of the back cover says:

                   Bulova

14K Rolled Gold Plate Bezel

             Stainless Back

                 New York

Thx Jim! Looks like the band I have may not have been its original?? If it is an original band where can I get extra links as the way it is it is too small for my wrist and would like to begin wearing it again. Also, the face seems too dark compared to the ads for the Goddess. Should I get it replaced? Thx!

Hello and welcome to myBulova!  Thank you for sharing your mother's watch with us.  How wonderful for you to have this wonderful heirloom.

Your watch would appear to be 14k rose gold filled and the copper dial would have been very typical.  Personally I would not replace it.  You could replace the crystal which would freshen it up if it is scratched.  I think the original band might have been a cord band.  Good news is you can find these on ebay pretty easily if you want to replace the band you have now.

Thx Kathy! I was goiong to sell it and in my efforts to do so found your site and thought maybe I need to know more about it first. It actually beonged to my grandmother (Mum's Mum), then Mum and now me. I don't have a dressy watch so after looking at your site and getting the feedback I have had so far, I thought no, I'm going to keep it. Get it cleaned etc and find the right band! Thx so much for your help!

I have two other vintage watches but sadly not Bulova and I do wish to sell those. Any idea where I might check?

One is a ladies gold fob watch dated 1888. An A.M. Waltham 7 jewel model K. The other is a ladies Bertmar Swiss watch guessing 1940s.

Many thanks!!

You are very welcome.  Geoff gave you good advice on selling.  They ladies vintage watch market is very soft.  Makes it great for buying but hard for selling.  Good luck!

Selling vintage watches is tricky at best, eBay seems to have the greatest audience but it's....well it's a pain. Other than that I can't give much advice, I would start by researching eBay SALES (not listings) to see if you can get some idea what they're worth before you do anything.
