Watch Description
  • Anti Magnetic   Self Winding  Waterproof  14KT Gold  Shock Resistant  White dial, gold hands/markers/even numbers.

As shown on the case back surrounding the Serial Number at the bottom, and BULOVA at the top.  (L6 under serial number for 1956).  I've had some trouble finding the exact version of this watch, the closest I've come to is a Cartier Edition by Bulova with all the same lug shape, face (other than it saying Cartier 23 Jewels instead of Bulova) but the back case is the same all around (except the serial number).  I know this watch is a work horse, my uncle purchased it brand new in 1957, and gave it to my father in 1961, which he used almost daily until he gave it to me in 2011 and I had it serviced. Currently on thin black leather strap as that's how I always saw it on my late father.  I'd still love to know the "proper designation/model" of this watch. Other than the 14KT Cartier I saw on the Bay of E, I saw one other that matched it well but was 10KT RGP FILLED.  It was hard getting clear and no shadow pics but here you go fellow watch enthusiasts!  I have a few other Bulova watches I will upload and look up more info, but if anyone has more info on this one, I will totally buy you a half a cup of coffee and a muffin. Free High Five as well :)   Final photo is of the Cartier by Bulova I found that matches my watch. (Hope that's allowed)

Thanks for the neat ad!  You figured it out SUPER FAST lol. Is there any way to edit the listing of the watch to update the model and give you credit for "Super Fast Model ID'ing"?

Once more of the panel votes, the listing will be updated. No credit necessary :o)

I love this site!  I saw a "J" ad and was like hmmmm maybe, but it was wayyyyy washed out compared to that one! THANKS!  Guess it's fitting since my name starts with a "J" :)

Ok, I may be old, but I'm seeing a pic of the subject watch with 'Cartier' on the dial.

It's a photo of a different watch, being the only one found by Jorge that matched his watch by case and dial. It's kind of neat to see that Cartier was apparently selling Bulovas (probably just solid gold ones) with dials customized for them.

My bad, I guess I should actually read the write up before I dive into the pics!

A Cartier VERSION by Bulova? This is unusual, at the very least. I can't imagine Cartier allowing the use of their name by anyone in the watch or jewellery industry. The only example I can think of would be the Cartier edition of the Town Car. Or as you say, Cartier selling Bulovas? How is this possible? I know we see 'Dior' series watches, but they say Bulova on the dial as well.

Tiffany does this, but the insides are other high end movts like Rolex and Patek. I currently have one that is a Concord on the inside. But Cartier makes their own iconic watches and has done so for a long time. I find it difficult to believe that this is not some kind of deception. I see the watch on eBay, but I doubt this is genuine.

Do we have any info on this, I'm not finding anything.

I don't find anything either. Who knows?

Another mystery to solve.
