Watch Description

Hello again, Bulova Friends --

Here's a wristwatch I purchased recently. The 7AP movement is asterisk-stamped for 1941, but I don't know whether this model is from 1941 too. It's a large rectangular shape, but weirdly convex to fit the curve of a wrist.

Any expert opinions on this one?

Cheers --

Michael

It is a really great looking watch.  I looked late 30's through the mid 40's and didn't find a match.

Unknown for now.

Hey Michael, very cool watch. S/N starts with a "1" so I would go with the asterix and 1941. No luck finding an ad, I have to go with

Unknown for now.

This is a very cool watch. This period of 21 jewels could make it part of the President series, but I'm not so sure. At this stage I'm also thinking its a model that we have yet to determine.

Another possibility is an engraved Director.

I was thinking Director variant as well but no luck finding an ad.

A fine looking watch, the black strap does it justice. Alas...

Thanks, everyone! I appreciate your sleuthing and your kind comments. (You're all so nice. Are you sure this is the interwebs?!)

So the consensus is although this watch isn't unique (cf. Lisa's, h/t jabs), it's Unknown. That's fine with me! I had it serviced and it's running reliably now.

It is a great watch and is unique in that we have only seen the two.  It will stay as an Unknown unless an ad is found.  It does happen from time to time.  Great you got it serviced, enjoy!!

The closest ad I could find was this 1941 ad from the Vintage Catalog area of this site.   Matches very close except no engraving.  Seems to be a Director but no confirmation ad showing a director with engraving.

I wonder if this one is a 1941 Bulova Rocket based on this 1937 Ad.  Hard to tell if the lugs match based on the angle of the photo but real close.
