Watch Description

I am hoping for help in determining the model name of this watch that belonged to my grandfather.  I scoured the Internet and have seen models with similar features but nothing exact -- certainly nothing with this watch face pattern nor the V-shaped lugs.  Thanks in advance for any help anyone is able to offer.  -Nick

Hi N ick, welcome to mybulova. Congrats on having your grandfather's watch, heirlooms are the best! Yours is a

1959 Sea King - variant letter currently unknown. Just like this one:

Same casing as well as face.

The only similar models (based on case) I find are from the Sea King line, but the dials are different. Your watch could be a Sea King, but I find no ad that matches.

I tend to agree with the 1959 Sea King based on the case/lugs. Variant is unkown for now. Nice watch, my birth year too. Sweet.

Thank you so much and thanks for the quick reply!  The fact that it's a "Sea King" is very cool and adds to the sentimental value.  He had a long and adventurous US Navy career that started when he was only 14 and included five years in China in the early 1920's, the coup in Cuba in the early 1930's and the attack on Pearl Harbor.  Thanks again!

Great story, thanks for sharing. I love the "fish scale"  dial and I'm sure it was probably one of the deciding factors when he picked it out to purchase.

Welcome to myBulova and thank you for sharing the story of your heirloom watch.  I would agree with Sea King and a fitting watch for your grandfather indeed.

Cool story, thanks for sharing it. That's what makes these old watches so amazing. I'm OK with Sea King but a bit on the tentative side, like I was on Wayne's watch
