Watch Description

This watch belongs to a friend of mine. He is a jeweler, and a co-worker gifted this watch to him when he left the company. The gentleman who gave him the watch is in his late forties and it was given to him by his grandfather. That is about all that is known about the history. It is in working condition, it sounds great. As you can see in the photos, it has no date code or symbol that we can see. I put the year at 1960 only because I had to put a valid year in to add the watch, I have no idea what year it actually is.

Any guesses? I looked a little more at the photos on the site and the first year I see an accutron with the lug moved from the back is 1965. Somewhat similar to the 1965 accutron calendar listed here except not gold and no calendar. Any idea why there are no date codes on the movement or the case? I know the band is not original. Would more or better pictures help?

I'm at a bit of a loss on this one, I stand at unknown pending further research.

I've seen a few 1970s models not sporting a datestamp on the caseback, not sure why some would not...replaced by Bulova? Perhaps the movement has a datestamp, likely an N#. Look near the lower end of the cell strap, often just to the right of that.

As for the model, I do not find a name, but I did find a model number. Here are a couple ads from 1973, one variation showing the maroon color dial option.

Well played Andersok, I think you nailed it. I'll tell my friend to check near the cell strap, hopefully we'll be able to narrow it down even more, but I think you totally got it with those ads, you rock!

You're welcome!

Sometimes that area of the cell strap with the small circular opening partially covers the code.

Wow, that is it! 1973 Accutron 100, 21118-5W model sounds good to me. My friend couldn't understand how the date codes worked, so he thought it was from the 90s based on the serial number. He'll be happy to find out it is more vintage. Great ad find
