Watch Description

The BULOVA "CADET," Circa 1944. Hereafter are two watches that both appear to be "Cadets?" However the '44 varietal has the plain bezel design... Whereas the '48 version sports engraving!

Assuming these watches are both authentic... I then suspect that the 1948 watch is therefore NOT the military "pledge..." but rather another model... sporting the same proven dial design, engraving and a new powerplant, released perhaps in 1948... following the successful reintroduction of the manly sounding "Bruce" model (after the war) in either December of '45 or 46? (My Bruce ad is dated 1946? So > either <or??)

Furthermore... there are at least two other "civilian" sounding models, that take the same crystals, aside from the seven jewel "Walton," from 1948. They are the "MAXIM," and the "RODERICK." I therefore believe the latter 1948 watch pictured, is one of those two models???

For the sake of clarity, I believe all of the aforementioned watches have the same crystal.  My ads show the Bruce ad from 1944. Notice the dial and the case.

Same case and same dial as Bruce 12-3-9 is introduced as Cadet in 1948.

I also think that all watches with this style case are named because of dial difference. e.g. 1944 Cambridge. 1 thru 12 Dial

Dial also different on the black 2-4-8-12 dial plain bezel  in your comment.

Thanks for the add ... I have picked up a couple of Bulova's ... one inherited and 2 purchased in the last year.  I will be posting pics soon.  Great site!!  A lot of good info here.

The "Cadet" has black markers on the dial at the 1,2,4,5,7,8,10 & 11 positions. The "Bruce" has gold markers on the dial at these positions. In the ads the "Cadet" appears to have black index style hands and the "Bruce" appears to have gold index style hands. Then the "Cambridge" has all the numerals on the dial in gold except the "6" position and has modern style hands.
