Marking on the Back (J with an Arrow through it.)

Submitted by juggalococ on March 31, 2011 - 2:33pm

I recently got a 1971 bulova acuutron watch and was wondering what the symbol of a J with a arrow through it means, it's to small to photo clearly.

That is just the case makers symbol isn't it? Jackay Watch Case Co used to have a similar symbol....may be wrong as know little about accutrons

The only watches I have with that symbol are solid gold, rather than plated or filled.  Perhaps that's the meaning, or maybe just a coincidence in my collection?  What does yours say about gold content?

Mine are all men's.  I was just looking and noticed that only some of my 14k's have that symbol.  My 18k has a different symbol.

it's stamped 1/10 14k so it's rolled gold from what I've gathered

on the clasp it's 1/10 14k and on the case it says 14k filled

Here's a picture of the symbol on my watch, which I'm assuming is the same as Juggalococ's.

Admin - The question wasn't about my watch.  I know that my watch is 14k gold, 1965.  It's posted in the database as such.  I just posted the pic to show the J with the arrow because the poster couldn't get a good picture of it on his watch.  The discussion is regarding what the J and the arrow mean.  The poster's watch has the symbol but is not solid gold.
