oops lol I am blind.. Thanx Fifth, however it doesn not have any ORD markings, does the 43 date code make it an ord watch based on what Bulova was and was not selling to the public and by its case?

shooter,

unclear if the Caseback would be correct (?)

wouldn't  these be center sweep tho??  My understanding is that all of these watches with this movement in this case were made for the ORD dept and all non issued were supposed to have been destroyed after the war. My thoughts are that as it was an expendable item ( ie you didnt return it to the govt once it was issued) many people kept them after the war (why wouldnt you, good watches were expensive) and that created a market for parts any way. the back seems newer than the case, maybe a replacement???...

Not sure if I would mess with those hands too much, a fairly concentrated ( and regulated ie you should not have been able to buy them, the govt would not release them today) source of radium in a small package....watch where you put them, avoid the uhhhh lap area lol.

Cool to have for shure !!!

There were Bulova military issue watches with the seconds bit that you have and hack versions with the center sweep seconds hand. The hack versions were generally supplied to the Air Force.  You are correct in that this is more than likely a replacement back as they were never issued without some sort of military designation present.   This was a requirement of the military contract during WWII.

So I can add as a military issue???

Also an interesting note, I was reading thru my TM 9-1575 Ordnance Maintenance Wrist Watches Pocket Watches Stop Watches and Clocks for 1945 from War Dept and it stated that "The Ordnance Department Stamps The Case Backs......." wonder if they actualy mean that the ORD Dept does in fact do the stamping ??? I would have thought the maker would have done so...

I wish they were sweep Center Seconds Hands, I need one for an A-11.

Nope, ORD watch noted on the box. Came via U.S. mail.
