No question there, all Ambassador. Beautiful watch. I'd like to hear more about 'in the family since new'.

Thanks for the comments, fellas, and the excellent resource you have built here at MyBulova.

Geoff, this was given to me by a great aunt in the mid-1990s. Another great aunt's late husband was the original owner. I'm met him when I was a very young lad, but he died quite some time before I recieved it, as did his wife, so I don't have any real history of it or the owner. All of those folks have now passed on, and I was lucky to have recieved quite a few old watches from that generation. I wrote an essay about being the caretaker of these old timepieces. If you care to read it, it is here

The straps on this ambassador appear to be very old pigskin. I doubt they are original (considering the wear evident on the case, it must have gotten enough use to also have seen the demise of a set of straps, or two) but they are near enough to the original type to enhance the vintage appearance of the watch considerably.

Cheers
Brad

Great essay Brad, I'm a huge fan of heirloom watches. My father collected pocket watches. I don't think there is a more personal item than a pocket watch and still have several of his. As you can tell I am a collector of wristwatches although it does not appear that either of my children are interested at this time, perhaps that will change.

I like the strap on this watch, this is what it most likely looked like new. I think all Ambassador models of the mid thirties (white and yellow) were mounted on this bracelet.

Guys,
I'm curious about the case back on my Ambassador. As shown above, it has a yellow RGP  bezel, but the back is white metal. I've owned two other Ambassadors, one each in yellow and white, adn each had a back of the same color as the front.

Does anyone have insight into this? I cannot recall seeing another of this model with the same configuration, and it seems pretty unusual to me.
