Watch Description

I have held on to this watch since my mother died 15 years ago. Not sure what it is worth but I feel someone would value it more than me. It is beautiful, I do not understand the jewels on the face. Please give me information thanks.

Thank you for adding your watch. Can you please update your photos to be higher resolution so we can properly review your watch and provide you with an accurate identification.

Case looks to be from the Academy Award series, but the watch may be from the Director series. Both may tie together.

Do you have to have special privileges on here to see the case or is there something wrong with my computer. All I'm seeing is a movement and the back to a case.

Update: I see pictures of the case today/ 02Jan2015

Please let me know if these are better. I am not sure what part of the watch you need. I am happy to email pictures if needed.

Hi mimikim, welcome to myBulova. I've sent you a private message with my email address- check for a link in the upper right hand section of your page view. A straight on photo of the front of the assembled watch, perhaps a side view, a photo of the case back (inside and outside) and shot of the movement. Send me the largest size you have, we'd really like to be able to see the details ( read the writing).

I had to use someone elses phone to send you some pictures but they are sent. If you need me to read the writing inside the case I can do so.

Thanks for updating the photos, but it would be good if they were bigger and showing more detail.

Please send your large photos to [email protected] and I can upload for you.

Another major factor to enable us to ID your watch is having an overall photo of the froont of the assembled watch.

OK, received the photos mimi, I think we can work with these. I think the watch you have is pictured in this ad we have from 1948. I believe its #18. The jewels on the dial were most likely added OR the whole dial was changed, it's difficult to know for certain. I don't think the Academy Award display box you have is original to the watch.

Panel - I'm kind of leaning toward this being an His Excellency model but am unsure because of the dial.

Thank you so much for the information. I do not know what to do from here but if you need more information please let me know.  I wonder why someone would put the watch in the incorrect display box? I am also wondering if the value decreased because of the diamonds added to the face. I feel it would look better without.

I'm not sure the diamonds were added to the dial "later".  Check out how you cannot see any of the roman numerals sticking out from around the edges of the diamond mounts.  I think the size of the mounts would not completly obscure edges of the underlying numerals- especially the two digit numerals 11 and 12.  My thinks the diamonds came on this dial.
