Astronaut "Mark I (AKA Deep Sea 666 feet World Time Zone)
All MK1 Astronauts used the 214 movement with adjustment from the rear of the case.
All MK2 Astronauts used the 218 movement and had twin crowns.
Ergo, subject cannot be a MK1.
Edit- Why does the "Astronaut MK1" newspaper ad only say " stainless steel, water resistant" in the description, when the watch has day/date complication and 666 feet water resist?
All other correct descriptions in that 1971 full page ad have the complications and depth resistance noted in their descriptions.

There are some subtle differences with this ad and the subject watch: one being that the 'DEEP SEA 666 FEET' is not shown on the watch in the ad; another being the day/date background is white - subj is more in line with the center dial color (or perhaps aged over time); another being the outer lines/ticks between the 5min markers on the subj watch are red - the ones in the ad appear to be another color other than red; also the triangle marker under Greenwich is red in subj watch - not red in ad.
Is it possible this advertised World Timer was not designed as a Deep Sea, and that there are variations of the World Timer different from this ad that may include Deep Sea versions?

Ken, I think you may be right about the date/day wheels being discoloured with age. The whole photo is a little "dark" too.
Here is another catalogue pic with the same image (no.4) being used, still a little fuzzy! In it you can at least see the red markers in between the hour markers, that just leaves the "Deep Sea 666" missing still. Same ref. no., 21454.
