Yeah I'm good with 1952 Duowind. It does look like the Spencer ad (one year later) shows a shadow dial.

Seems as though my posts supporting DW have disapeared from the thread,  OK. fine, at least you've accepted the date of manufacture to make it right. I've checked it off with 3 ticks.

..actually Gents let's look at this one again.

The colored ad above (displayed on page one, dated 1953) for the "two-tone" Dialed 'SPENCER' is not showing a two-tone Dial at all, it's showing a quadrant cut gabled Crystal as the 1952 Black and White ad. below shows with greater detail.

Interesting point. So the model name changed in 1952 would be indicated here.

admin,

I would suggest this design follows the same path as the heavily 'debated' circular 1950 'DUO-WIND' vs 1951 'THAYER'. http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1950-duo-wind-1088

The Movement inside of these timepieces being the key, a 'DUO-WIND' will have a bi-directionally winding Movement, the 10CSC found inside the subject I believe winds in only one direction.

Hello, I cannot vouch for the model differences you are talking about, but I have a 1953 Clipper and this contains the 10 csc mentioned above, and I can vouch for it being a bi-directional winding movement.

Can I make the suggestion that it may be the ability to wind both by hand and by wrist movement, being the reason for the duo-wind name?

Tony.
