The case shown below was used by many watch companies in the 1920s Including Awoner, Banner, Gruen, Elgin and Locust, that I have pictures of. However, I have never seen the subject 18k case before.

Steven

Let's compare & discuss`corner-cut cases only. Shown top left is Joe P's 192518K ultra rare corner-cut case. Shown top right is an 18k Conqueror with an entirely different cut-corner engraving patterns. The horizontal & vertical engraving patters are entirely different also.  Obviously the only common denominator is they are both Bulova cut-corner cases.

Second row: The production Conqueror & Lone Eagle engravinfg pattern is the same as the 18K Conqueror above, except for the addition of the so called art deco eagle design pattern on the corners The horizontal & vertical engraving pattern are the same, opposing arrows. Yes, the fact is that the production Conqueror & Lone Eagle cases have the exact same engraving pattern. Ironically, advertisement for the Conqueror and subsequently the Lone Eagle showed the cut-corner engraving pattern as the 18k

The case below is not what I would call common because they are hard to find. This case was used by early manufacturers both Swiss & USA. I found the case below in semi-terminal condition, but Bourg01 was able to bring it back to life & made a custom watch for me.

The corner engraving design is the same a Joe P's case, but the vertical & horizontal bezel engraving  pattern is entirely different. I suspect the new treasure on the way to Dacca is the same as this corner-cut case below. After enlarging the image it looks like the case below.

I believe the case to be more rare than the Lone Eagle as far as availabiliy, Calling All Sock Drawers!

No it isn't marked Bulova. I am using it for camparison. Is the corner-cut case you referred to a as having Bulova case?

I'll post pics of that recent arrival later tonight.  Not a bulova and is an everbrite I think.  Interestingly it is only about 2/3 the size of the conqueror.

Oh well, sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you.

Or no guts, no glory...

Checking back on this one.  There is no ad or other info indicating the subject watch (joe p) is a Conqueror.  We associated it with Conqueror on production date and cut corner design.  So is this watch an unknown model?  I think it is.

Looking back on this I agree with Will. Whilst is has a number of Conqueror traits it could very well be called something entirely different and pre-dates the Conquerors. Unknown for me too.

I need to check my email a little closer.  Lisa sent us the ad below, and even a link to this thread, over two weeks ago-and I just "found" the email today.  Although they don't show a model name, they do show us the watch, and give a good dating framework.
Close-up from the Oakland Tribune, dated July 16, 1926.

And the full ad from which the close-up snippet came.

Thanks Lisa....now to find an ad confirming the model name.....

Sorry Will, while the corner engraving is similar it isn't the same neither is the horizontal and vertical.
