Watch Description

A great looking watch!  Bulova marketed this two toned Surgeon to members of the Military... renaming it the Blackhawk for a couple of years.

I think this one cleaned up rather nicely and looks to have had a redial to original pretty recently...

  BEFORE

Happily that black stuff was all tarnish that came off pretty easily!

Nice one, Jerin...

Not bad for your first purchase, eh? Find a BB: CS2090 x 209 or equal for it, yet? (I'm sold out of ' em, since the same glass fits several other models...

I do however still have glass and acrylics for at least 150 men's Bulovas (I frankly don't ID ladies, per se') but didn't invest (any more) time into listing the others. (Many of which are ID'd...)

Best :-)  Scott

I've got a line on a few of the right crystals.

The 1944 Blackhawk is the first one I bought.  This 1943 version was one I picked up last month.

This one is in a bit better shape and looks as though someone either kept it very very well or was recently gone through.

Did you see my trio of these Scott?

Yes... the "Blackhawk" is the quasi-military variant that Bulova did on the Surgeon.  As you'll notice there are several of those variants out there.

Blackhawk/Surgeon, Airwarden/???, ???/Minuteman, Blackout/RadioCity/Senator, General/President

Jerin,

An EXCELLENT "Doctor's watch" trio! You've become quite the collector and contributor here... in what, three+ months!? As have several other guys... Maybe I'll get back "involved" here, once I have the time and capital?

Yah... you have to BUY the crystals (and catalogs) when they surface... or GOOD LUCK finding them again soon, as it goes in waves, like anything/everything else on eBay and online!

If one only had  30 +/- Jewelers catalogs, THEN they could likely ID a couple hundred+ models, like the guys (eventually) did with Hamiltons... Or the same goes for an other brand/models, of course!

Find those catalogs... and increase interest and demand, 10 fold !?! (However I believe we got the stone rolling downhill, eh, with about a dozen +/- main contributors, here?!?)

Best :-)  Scott

three Black Hawk ads (1942 and two in 1943) w/ the 3,6,9,12 dial variant of subject Black Hawk. 1943 below:

other examples in watch DB w/o the 3,6,9.12 dial.

Yeah I know what your saying... I don't know.  All the Blackhawks I've seen have been the ones with the 3,6,9,12 missing.

Say what you will.  I still love this watch and the name it carries.
