This was my mother in law's mother's watch probably from the 1920-1930 period.  It works fine and keeps good time.  I put it back in the case after taking pictures, and pulled the stem out to adjust the time again, and the stem broke off.  Bummer! Before that it was in perfect condition.  Is a new stem available?  The watch should probably be cleaned and repaired, however, the movement works GREAT!

Thanks,

Rosie

Rosie  Nice Family Heirloom!  There's a small set screw which holds the stem in and allows it to be pulled out to the set position but not all the way out (broken??).  Pretty good chance this set screw was "out" a little too far, and the stem simply pulled out.
It's a good idea to have the watch serviced if you are going to run it.  If your gonna keep it in the sock drawer, this can wait...but if ran when "dirty" it can mess things up so it actually becomes "broken".

Thank you for the reply.  I updated the post and checked the pin with a loop.  There is a line through the circle at the end, very small, so I think it could be the set screw.  So, you think it can be repaired?

Hopefully an easy repair, but if the movement is a "TWO a APU" it's about the size of a dime, and the set screw smaller than a thin pencil lead- so you'd have to to get Santa's smallest elves on it right away...  This would be addressed and "fixed" if you had it serviced.

Hi, I see that you posted a comment to me but I can't access them through the url sent in the e mail.  I checked my messages under home, and none are there.  How do I read the new postings?

Sorry Alex, I went to edit and accidently deleted your reply to Rosie.

Rosie - we decided to re-ID your lovely little watch, you most likely got a message saying we had changed it. You can review our comment by following the pages below.

Nice of you to get me new information, the link did work. However, all the comments I received in e mail were not available.  So it looks like it is Arline.  The watch is now out of state in storage, not repaired.  I can't get better pictures but am happy to know it is worth keeping and fixing someday. Thanks,   Rosie
