New member...Bulova watches and 'The Saint' aka Simon Templar.....

Submitted by KORKY67 on March 13, 2010 - 5:56am

Hi there,

I am a new member having joined today and with only one weeks facination with Bulova behind me!!!! I am a big fan of the retro 1960's editions of The Saint with Simon Templar and noticed whilst watching an episode called 'the time to die' a close up of his watch which was a Bulova!!! This has prompted my interest as I never knew of the brand till this week but am now hooked. I am looking to make my first purchase and am looking for a minted 1960's early 70's model (had a go at ebay item 300403107417 but missed out on it). Can anyone give me any advice please. Does anyone know which model the Saint wore? and any wise words on what to choose or good sources.

Welcome! It's great to see another person hooked by the beauty of a vintage Bulova watch.

If anyone can locate the snippet of footage from the film please post a link here so we can all see the watch in question.

The ebay watch  is a very nice 1966 (M6) Bulova 30 Jewels Commander.

1966 Bulova Commander

This era saw both selfwinding machanical and Accutron watches being sold by Bulova. My only advise for buying a watch of this era is to make sure it works. Unlike ealier Bulova models were parts are relatively easy to find, these newer watches can sometimes be a bit tricky to get parts it they break down.

Good luck in your pursuit and please let us know what you end up getting and please feel free to add it to this site.

Welcome! It's fantastic to wager added mortal crooked by the example of a oldness Bulova watch. If anyone be able to place the piece of footage from the flick please place a unification here so we be able to every wager the check in question. The ebay check is a specially pleasant 1966 (M6) Bulova 30 Jewels Commander.

Hi Stephen, nice to talk with you via the forum and thanks for taking the time to reply. I have managed to trace the clip from 'The Saint'.....32 mins into the episode in case anyone is interested and have taken some digi snaps (follow the link below to see the snaps), not the best quality but shows a 23 jewels model self winding. Any of you Bulova fans out there please let me know anything you can re the model.

That is a classic design - very beautiful (or manly if you would prefer).

I like it. Well done!

It's retro...it's classic...it a real 23 jewelled swiss movement...and you got it for a good price.

Congrats. I hope to see it added to this site!

It's true...there can still be love at first sight......my watch arrived today and is better than I expected.....sorry to go on but I am well chuffed (pleased as we say in Scotland) with it, it is like new and has the most beautiful matt chocolate face (like looking into a tin of drinking choc powder)...I can't fault it.

Hello my fellow Bulova watch lovers!!! I have what appears to be a Curvex but it's not "Art Decoie", "know what I mean? Anyway upon closer inspection it's a 15jeweled, 10AE, with a curious "Omega" symbol? Very smooth second hand movement, "Sweeping", 10K bezel and SS snap back.  I need a little more information to ID thus beautiful fully functional watch. Thank you and hope to hear from someone soon!

The Omega symbol is probably the 1940 date code.  See "Dating your Bulova" in the "Information" dropdown.

I'm sure we'd all like to see some pictures!
