Watch Description

Here is the Calhoun model. Untouched and unrestored, just received. Working fine.

This has a rare 21 jewel 10ae movement. Most 10ae I have seen have been 15/17j I think.

I will update with better pictures in the future but just wanted to get this out there as there is not another on here.

No problem, I thought I was buying another ambassador or the like, glad it turned out to be one of these as I have not come across it before now.

The 10AE came in 17J and 21J verieties only. Nice watch, looking similar to a Clipper of the same era?

admin,

I have an identical listed as the 'BEN HUR'

does anyone have a definative answer to the difference between the 2 models? ...or  where is the evidence supporting the 'CALHOUN' ID ?

Scott's Ben Hur

Gary's Calhoun

Do we have any ads for the Calhoun?

Dial variation is all I can see.

I've seen one before, but can't seem to find it now and recall the 'CALHOUN' showed a non engraved bezel (?)

The only difference I see in the 2 actual Watches is the sub Seconds Dial, which looks overly small on Garys Watch in comparison to the size and era of the Dial possibly indicating a refinish at some point? - IMO based on the positioning of the 12 numeral part of the 6 numeral would show on the Dial if a sub Dial of this size were originally used, there's plenty of room for it..

Watch Dated 1938 - not much of an arguement against the originality of the Dial.

Ad Dated 1937 - 'BEN HUR'

Anyone happen to notice in the hard to read ad description, "Clipper style case"? IMO this verifys Bulovas use of "Cross-Overs" ie: dial varients, name changes, hands etc...

Ya, whoever cropped the ad didn't do it any justice - the Watch description is just as important as the image, paticularly on the similar models.

'CLIPPER' style case, but not identical to.
