Is there a documented ad or hang tag or manual to confirm the 'D' variant?

I think this should be changed to Snorkel.

Also, I believe that all of the known Oceanographer's, regardless of varient, had the date and/or day/date complication.

We don't discuss valuations or pricing on site, as such.  Good choice to change from "D" to generic.  Now I gotta remember or research if Snorkel 666 was a model name from an ad or a tentative name assigned to these watches until we got a model name from some documentation.  I just don't remember off hand... Nice watch. Thanks for adding to database with good pics and details!

Edit after comment above:  We have this and two other Snorkel 666 watch records on site.  They all look quite different.  Here's one example : http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1963-snorkel-666-4236

so I now "remember" we do have this model name listed from an ad.

The case back date code looks like MO, but that can't be right.  Must be my glasses.

This is what can happen if we host our images on another image hosting site.  Some time goes by, and the images disappear.  Although its a little more work or a few more steps, please upload images to MyBulova so they remain with the watch record.
