1970 Bulova Accutron 430

Case is 10K GF dated N0, inside case #3022; matching attached band is also 10K GF and by JB Champion; Has the 2183 movement with an N0 datestamp below the battery strap mount, just serviced and running great; orange color dial with golden color hands and indices, the dial was originally a darker orange which I noticed on the outer edge that is hidden - sorry didn't get a photo of it; complete package with display case, outer boxes, manual, price tag, looks to be very original.

Three ticks for Accutron 430. Nice one, looks like the band is even original.

"She" is beautiful Ken. Looks as if she didn't get out much either. This is another of those 70's watches that would be right at home in today's fashion world. No question she's all original. Did you figure out how the bracelet is affixed?

Thanks, the bracelet is just connected directly to the case - and also my wife's wrist!

HA, I'd wondered if that was the case. Every now and then I have the same problem at my house.

I'm a watchmaker in Florida and I have been going crazy attempting to replace this 218-3 movement and orange dial. A Lady sent me the watch exactly as you have shown here in "Unused" condition. Never worn. The original Accutron Mercury Cell leaked and destroyed the Coils. I have tried ebay to no avail. If anyone has a working / keeping time and serviced 218-3 Accutron Movement with Orange or other Dial I need one fast. e-mail: [email protected]   John V. "Time & Again" in mid-Florida.

I inherited my mother's "430." I'm not sure she liked it very much, she found it bulky.  My dad gave it to her as an anniversary gift and shortly after it "must have gotten wet" and went back into the box never to see daylight again.  At one point it may have been taken to a jeweler who said it couldn't be repaired.   I'd like to see if it actually can be repaired--how do I find a reputable repair shop and what should I look for in possible issues?  If it truly can't be repaired, what do you do with these?

Hi, my name is John V.  DBA "Time & Again" in Mid-Florida. I specialize in vintage Bulova Repairs. I just the other day completed repairs on your exact watch that needed a new 218-3 Movement and I replaced the orange Dial with a Pinkish Gradient Dial. The repair and restoration did take some time but the lady is estatic as the results. I need to know the exact condition of the watch. Running or no, recent service records etc. If a Jeweler says watch cannot be fixed, they don't know Accutron. Movements can be easily replaced if not running and even the coils can be replaced. Battery must be the correct one as that is the cause of most Accutron fatalities I see. So if you want a reputable repair done that won't cost you a arm and a leg, please e-mail Description with pics to: [email protected]

At that point I can give you a written estimate of repairs and restoration.

Best

John V.
