Accutrone Spaceview

Given to my Father for 15 yrs of service. I inherited this when my Father passed in 1985. Being young and foolish I replaced the original bracelet with a cheap flex band, needless to say the original is long gone.

I bought one of the Accucell batteries and although thhe watch runs it does lose time. I don't know if my Father had anything done to it but I read if you use the newer 394 battery it would speed up the movement. Don't know if I'm on the right track here but any advice would be appreciated.

Hello catman, welcome to myBulova. I think heirloom watches are the best, congratulations on having your father's watch. While it's difficult to know for certain, an original Accutron Spaceview is a special thing as Spaceview were often created from regular Accutron watches because they were in such high demand, in fact they still are. I'm not an expert on Accutron watches I would follow advice of a professional watchmaker who specializes in Accutron regarding battery, there's a lot of bad advice out there. These watches can be expensive to repair and I highly recommend a professional service before you use it. As an heirloom it's probably worth the investment.

There's a guy in Normal, Illinois who is supposed to be a Bulova recomended repair man. Thats only about 50 miles from me. He charges $175.00 for a complete service. Although that sounds a bit high to me for just servicing a watch I realize this is no regular watch. I'm going to have him service it even if I don't plan on wearing it all the time (I drive a RediMix truck, not the cleanest job around) just for piece of mind that its done right. I'll just get a cheaper Timex to wear while driving the truck and save the Bulova for when the Wife and I go out. Thanks for the responce, I hope to post a review and a few pics of my watch after the service. Also looking to replace the cheepo band with an original Lizard Skin Bulova band.

Great looking watch and on my wish list. Accutrons certainly require a certainly skill and knowledge when services them, so $175 certainly sounds fair to me, plus it gives you peace of mind knowling that you are not damaging it by runnng a dry, dirty watch.

I like the idea of wearing this on special occasions, certainly if it can't be your daily wearer.

The linked ad for the 'I' variant shows a yellow gold case; subject watch caseback states stainless steel. It appears to be stainless, but can you confirm what material the case is?

Ah that's a better match, good pickup gents.

1967 Bulova Accutron Spaceview "G" works better for me.
