Recent ebay purchase that I was sure was a Senator "X" that had been monkeyed with. We currently have one in the Db - 23J matched to a 1963 Canadian ad.
Once in hand and able to inspect the a magnifying glass, this one has identical dial (minus 23J reference) and case, but has a 17J movement with import code and date code matching the case.
The hunt began......Much to my surprise, this watch is listed in a single 1957 linebook - #131.
Bought it as seen and keeping time for $37. Case, dial and movement very clean, but band shows considerable wear on bottom of wrist. Was preparing to put a NOS generic scissor band on it; attempting a match it to the 1963 Senator ad, until I found it in the linebook and realized it's on the original Kreisler band. Home Run!!

That puzzled me as well. I wonder if it was a flop in the states as Ivanhoe because it looks "dated" and was shipped as excess inventory parts to Canada, upgraded to a 23 and given a different band and name to clear stock? I also would consider the currency exchange rate of US to Canadian dollars? Either / or, it seems to be a pretty uncommon model.
