Vintage Bulova "Sea King " Variant Manual Wind - Sweeping red seconds hand Fully Serviced & timed and keeping excellent time.
Moment I saw this watch I had to buy it
Rescued from a garage sale and spent precious time bringing it back to what is extremely close to new condition without changing a single peice of originally bought watch except installing NOS factory bulova new crystal.
was really dirty - now sparkles !
Hello watchcollertor66, welcome to myBulova, this is a great looking watch. The diamond star was customization I think. It appears that the sweep second hand was shortened to accommodate the add.
I agree that it's a Sea King model, like Ken's.
I agree with Geoff, that sweep second has been shortened, and points to a dial mod.
Likely the minute hand is canted upward, so the sweep would bind with it and/or touch the crystal. I see many watches where the hands have to be very carefully contoured because of indices or stones added.
The watch that Ken has is in great condition
Being a new member this is my first post and first watch i have shown, I appreciate learning all i can about these vintage beauties, and appreciate all your imput.
I have a few others that i will post as time permits
thanks
Confirming Model and Variant based on the 1957 Linebook BAWD0132
1953 Sea King "B". Note that the Linebook shows the Sea King "A" as having a black dial. Also not the sales books show two listings for Sea King B. One for $57.50 and one for $59.50. I wonder if the extra $2 is for an expansion bracelet.
