14K YGF with stainless steel case back. Inside case back REX W.C. CO. Dial face has 4 diamonds at 12, 3, 6, and 9. Movement is stamped 182048 6AF. 15 Jewel. I purchased the watch on 04/01/1999 at an NAWCC watch show. I have not had the watch cleaned or refurbished since I purchased it.
Welcome and thanks for sharing your treasure with us. Movement is indeed a 1929 (s/n and shield), but the case is more in line with late 40's to early 1950's, Dial is in the style of an Academy Award except with diamond or rhinestone markers. Bulova never used Rex cases as far as I know and it bears no Bulova branding or s/n, so this is a re-case/upgrade of a much older movement that was most likely done in the mid-1950's. It is probable that the case, dial and hands came as a kit.
I really like the looks of it and am a fan of diamond dials, but this is a watch we consider to be Non-conforming due to the mix of Bulova and non-Bulova parts. Wear it and enjoy it, it's very cool....
1929 Non-Conforming.
