I believe this to be a 1950 Excellency UU. It runs smoothly and accurately.
This is a very nice watch. I doubt there's any question it's an Excellency. Regarding the variant, I see the "V V" as the black numerals, not sure what the "UU" is yet..... Until we nail down the variant I would give it three ticks for an Excellency.
Welcome Almaden, to myBulova, you have a nice start to a Bulova obsession with the four lovely watches you've brought us. Is it only the 1940's and 50's you collect? Are there more?
The 'HIS EXCELLENCY' "UU" is shown here: ad Dated 1949 http://www.mybulova.com/sites/default/files/vintage_ads/Mexican-Bulova-49-9.jpg
The 'HIS EXCELLENCY' "VV" here: ad Dated 1951 http://www.mybulova.com/sites/default/files/vintage_ads/bulova-ad-1951-3.jpg
Interestingly enough the 1949 "UU" ad appears to show the Black printed Dial, the 1951 "VV" ad showing Gilt whilst its descriptive text clearly states "Black numerals and Hands"
a humdinger
I'm very much inclined to go with the 'VV' variant. The ad looks to be incorrect as there is no way the watch shown in the advert has black hands and thus the numbers would also not be black. The ad shows gold hands.

Tentative HE 'VV' for me or as you say a straight out His Excellency.
Great condition!
