Welcome to mybulova and thanks for sharing. During this time period there were several watches similar and a major contributing factor to naming them is the shape of the lugs. Can you add another photo showing the complete watch straight on from the front?
It is a men's watch, no doubt there.

I would say that you have a wonderful 1948 Bulova His Excellency "FF".
Original price $57.50,
It looks in really nice shape.
It is a man's watch. The His Excellency line of watches represented the height of the Bulova line. 21 jewel was the finest movement made by Bulova up to this time and was used in their finest watches. $57.50 in 1948 would be about $650 in 2020 US Dollars BUT a skilled worker in 1948 made less that $50 a week so it was more like three months of pay. Very expensive watch for the day.
1948 Bulova His Excellency FF - very nice
Wow, thank you!!! When I looked around the His Excellency model was the closet that I could find. However due to the case number not bringing up anything and calling Bulova was a waste of time...lol!!! I really appreciate your getting back to me...and I agree the condition is excellent for the year. I almost thought the person that I bought it from was joking, but I knew that I couldn't pass it up if it was authentic!!! I was also hesitant because the guy said that it hadn't been serviced, he was right about it keeping good time and running well. Bulova really out did themselves with this one!!!

You'll probably hear this a thousand times, but it's true......
If you are unsure of the service history of a watch and you plan on wearing it (as in wound up and ticking), then it is highly recommended that you find someone who can give it a proper service, just to make sure it'll last another 70 years.
Unfortunately it is becoming harder and harder to find someone with the skills to properly service these watches these days, but they do exist. You'll be able to easily spot them, they are the ones astride a white unicorn.
Thanks again for adding your watch to myBulova.com
