Watch Description

Believe from research, (inluding this site) the watch is an "Excellency" director  model? I have reviewed the date codes chart but I'm puzzled by the box symbol with the dot next to it.

Hi Righttime. You have a 1947 "His Excellency". The "square" symbol on the movement indicates a 1946 movement. Nothing unusual about the movement being one year earlier than the case. I think the dot is just a blemish on the movement. Your watch has a refinished dial. I'm pretty sure they didn't come with a blue dial. Looks like it may have a 4 faceted crystal on it also. That's another customized feature. These were on the high end side of the Bulova line at the time and very nice time pieces.

Hello righttime, welcome to myBulova. A fine looking watch you have. I think this is the His Excellency model.

I'm good w/ His Excellency, refinished dial noted.

I agree with His Excellency. Similar to this "M" variant in 1947 ad aside from the re-dial and original strap or bracelet being unknown and may have originally had a rounded crystal
