Nice catch Gerard!

'HIS EXCELLENCY' is a good call although the Dial differs from the 'F'

Thank You.

True the dial is off. Will that put it in a subcategory like AA or whatever or change the name totally?

Gerard,

The differing Dial would change the variant letter.

I saw the dial on a different shaped case but not both together yet, allot of variants for this watch.

Yes,

The same can be found on the 'ACADEMY AWARD' series.

Look closely at the Bulova '23's and 1950's 'HIS EXCELLENCY's, variants of those Models extend to 3 letter designations by the mid 1960's. - a lot of variants.

So were these watches top sellers so they did the variant thing to sell more?

Exactly!

Variations of a particular Model gave more choices to the Consumer.

Hey Mark, are you sure that this watch takes an MA crystal? My His Excellency #9424465 takes the flat crystal and yours appears to be flat also.

*EDIT* Since I made this statement I've discovered that this watch does indeed take a Military style crystal, not flat.
