Watch Description

I believed I found a match with the 1947 Beau Brummel, but the movement has the asterisk on it suggesting 1941, so as usual I know nothing. Took this beauty to my let my watchmaker do a service and he informed me that not only was the case 14k, but bracelet also for a total of 17.1 dwt. Case is 22mm in length, 21mm width, and 37mm lug tip to lug tip. If we can clear up the identity of this watch it  would be much appreciated.

Thanks awesome bulova team and members!

Dane

If you look closley to the left of the * you will see a T upside down, for 1942. Most unusual dating codes. The dial appears to be a little large for the case as the sub seconds boarder is below the bottom of the case and the diamond numerals seem to be a bit close as well. This could be a swap of dials.

Nice watch.  I was wondering if it was the crystal that perhaps makes the dial look like it doesn't quite fit.
Searching ads and DB for more info.  Great watch.

Great eye! The watchmaker did replace the crystal so that might be the issue with the sub box being cut off on the bottom, and it does taper in on the sides. What's the best course of action to locate the right crystal?

I just noticed something. The movement is a 21 jewel even though the barrel bridge is stamped 17 jewels. Possibly the movement has been swapped and the barrel bridge from the replaced movement was used on the replacement because it appears to have one screw missing.

Sorry Dane, somehow I overlooked this dandy. We have a similar watch ID'd a a Beau Brummel and I think this is too. This cylinder type crystal distorts the dial when viewed from almost any angle but I think it's all correct and VERY cool. Here's his twin

I'm good w/ Beau Brummel.
Dane, did you get a PM or reply regarding your "correct crystal" request?  Good eye on the barrel bridge stamp of 17 jewels Merc.

No messages regarding correct crystal, although Geoff said he thought it was all good.

Lisa has the crystal for this Beau Brummell listed as a G-S X607 measuring 19.2mm X 18.5mm.

Looks to be a good match to the BB, movement swapped or altered.
