Watch Description

Trying to identify this watch that was my mother-in-laws.  Not sure if it's 1936 or 1946.  From what little research I've done, it looks like the Shirley watch.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nice ad find, Jim.

1946 Florence "A" she is.

I found this listing while trying to ID another watch that is ultimately a '47 Florence. In my research, I discovered something. We have one ad for a 1947 Florence. It shows one in white gold and the description says it's available in yellow, white, and pink. It also gives the price for the 14K watch as $59.50 and the gold filled watches as $42.50. Based on the ad from The Minneapolis Star, the Florence "A" is the solid gold watch. The subject watch is gold filled. Therefore, it cannot be the Florence "A".

Here's the ad with the picture of the Florence.

The adjacent page has the description.

I believe this ID should be changed to simply Florence as it is not the "A" variant in The Minneapolis Star ad. If we get additional information later about the Florence variants, perhaps a more specific variant ID can be made at that time.

I suspect the 1947 ad was not available in 2019 when this was first identified.

The watch is actually 14KT solid gold as indicated on the backcase. So the "A" variant is correct.

Thanks for checking though. It's good to sometimes confirm a model ID when new advert evidence presents.
