I think it a 1940 Lone Eagle. Movement maybe should be 10AE. Looks like someone has installed some unique band extensions. ??  This one needs a crystal. Plse pm me if you have.

From memory, this could also be either a Bulova Engineers or Ambassador, it all depends of the size and inparticular the crystal size and shape.

We've established that there were several variants to the 1940 model of which watch could very well be one of them.

Crystal specs look close

Case of Ambassador in this time frame was very similar, but lacks the little decorative grooves on the lugs. Lone Eagle was a 17J, the same as subject watch, while Ambassador was 21. Based on this and close proximity of crystal specs given and pictured package I'm going with

1940 Bulova Lone Eagle - variant unknown

Interesting band, I'd like to see a better photo of it.

I'm good with the Lone Eagle on this one.  Nice dial... it looks great in black!

1940 Lone Eagle.

Unfortunately, this movement is incorrect. Although we do see Lone Eagles with the 10AX movt in them, this one is actually a 10AXCS. (Can you confirm the stamp is 10AX?) They were produced sometimes without the proper stamp for some reason, and the difference is the Sweep Centre Second hand. You can see where the sweep pinion bridge was mounted on the train bridge. In the versions with no Sweep Second, the '10AX' is stamped in that spot. This also means that the centre wheel has a hollow shaft, which we can clearly see in the photo. It also appears that the Hour wheel is missing from under the dial.

Hi The Ambassador-C which is extremely close has a 10AE 21 jewel movement, 1939-1940 but casing and strap slightly different.
