The watch was purchased on eBay. It is 26mm in diameter. It was sold to me as a "woman's watch", but considering its age (1939), I'm not 100% about that claim, mostly because the dial has a military look. If you can confirm it was a male or female watch, that would be appreciated!
Certainly a mens watch and would date to 1939 as you indicate. I'm not sure happened to the messed up date code, code it could have been the 1939 date shield symbols at some point :-)
We have another 1939 watch like your in the database marked as 'Unknown": https://mybulova.com/watches/1939-unknown-9746

Thanks for the link to the other watch. They are indeed identical. Mine came from a seller located in Canada. Could it be a model sold on the Canadian market?
I worked on the crystal yesterday evening. I tried sanding and buffing it with Polywatch. I got the scratches out, but the crystal remained foggy, even after multiple applications of Polywatch. More sanding and buffing didn't work, soI'm going to order a new crystal. But as a temporary (read : desperate)
solution, I applied a coat of lacquer on the crystal and the results are not half bad!

I like this one, I wish I had a name for it but I don't. Hard to tell on the Canadian origin, it's possible I guess but we have no way to know. We know Bulova advertised in Canada with some slightly different names. By the way - I think the crystal turned out quite well, nice work.
