Hi,

What does it say inside the caseback on this watch?

1938 Movement, in a 1952- 56 case?! Looks like a diamond dial "Excellency" FrankenBully original, perhaps?? Please pardon my sarcasm... A most intriguing (customized) design, nevertheless!

admin,

The reason I asked what is written inside the caseback is I'm curious about the case manufacturer.

I agree Mark, there are a few things that aren't right about this watch.

Looks like another "shop owners special" to me. by that i mean one someone other than bulova have made.  Is the case actually marked Bulova? Looks like a 1D made case to me. The dial is certainly not an original Bulova dial.

Everything is wrong GJ.

Watches like this will say Bulova across the dial and then 'movement' in smaller letters underneath, meaning only the movement used is Bulova - on this one it looks as if someone has thoughtfully obscured the 'movement' detail of the dial lettering.

To the OP: If You have not yet purchased this watch, pass.

I agree, I have seen a few of these type watches that someone, probably shop owner or jeweller have placed a gold strip over the 'movement' wording. looks likely the case here too
