Thanks for adding your grandfathers watch to the database!

I'd highly recommend spending a little money on buying a set of hands which are common to find and having the watch serviced. Then wear it with pride and honour as its a wonderful timepiece.

how do we explain the serial number starting with 6 in the Square as the identifying mark. and also correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they stop adding serial numbers after 1933? I know there's some stragglers after that time....Have you seen many 1937 Bulova watches with serial numbers.

I think if you look at the lower left of that same ad this will be a President model due to the 21 jewel count.

The Treasurer was 17 jewels.

It does have the curve as suggested for the wrist. I don't know if that means anything.

Looks like you have had one of these before....But the serial number starts with 7 and the movement is not a square

The wrist curve was just a selling point in the advertisments and was usually exaggerated in the illustrations.

With the case serial number starting with 6 and the square date code that would place this as a 1936 manufacture date.

Hello Lovemywife2016, welcome to myBulova. I think it's exciting to have an heirloom watch from your grandfather, the question is, will you restore and wear it or just 'treasure' it? It looks like it needs a bit of attention. We call the affliction "Bulovitis", the dreaded contagion that afflicts those of us that just can't get enough Bulova. Beware, several of us 'crazy watch collectors' got hooked when we started researching this nice old watch we found.......

We see both Treasurer and President with and without a fine line of engraving along the sides. The Treasurers were 17 jewel, Presidents 21. I think your watch is a 1936 President. Here is an advert, I think from 1936, showing it.
