Watch Description

1932 Bulova Sky King in very fine original condition. White GF case bears Jan 11, 1927 patent date and has contrasting yellow gold in IXIXI pattern. Yellow gold Kreisler mesh bracelet is not period to the watch but looked so nice I decided to put it on anyway.

The engraving is different from the advert.

Something about the outer edges of the lugs on advert watch,  they match up with the subject watch well. The original advert lugs are not the same.

Where did the watchophilia ads come from?? Bobbee, that you?

perhaps someone can explain which ad the image named 'blowup' posted above is from?

Here is an enlargement of the ad titled June 3 1932

The engraving pattern on this ad is illegible so let's eliminate that one.

So,

We now have 5 Bulova ads showing the 'SKY KING' to have a 'Fish' engraved bezel vs 1 with an XX engraving  pattern.

I would be swayed by the XX pattern bezel advertisement concluding a design change in 1932, but there is the Bulova ad Dated 1934 showing the Fish pattern and XX pattern Watch examples in the database dated as early as 1930 which leads Me to believe at this time the 1932 XX pattern ad is a printing error.
