Watch Description

Wonderful condition 1931 Bulova Sky King sporting it's original white / yellow Maxim deployment bracelet. Yellow / White "Bulova Quality"  gold case bears Jan 11, 1927 patent date and is in extra fine condition. "Dress" dial. I'm proud to report that I now own the yellow/white AND the white/yellow version! Inscribed as shown "To Father From Les Dec 25, 1931" Clasp is inscribed Jno A Jones (apparently Jno was an abbreviation of John)

Ownership Update 1/26/2013 - I purchased this watch from Panda (Brian) late last year. Photos Updated 5/17/2023

And now this 'Sky King' is my watch.

I must have missed this....its a strange one as the two-tone is reversed. Normally they are white gold with the yellow gold trimmings, this one is opposite.

Very strange and something I cannot say I have seen before.

Gotta go 'unknown" for me based on the reversal of color tone.

Oh BTW that band and case engraving is killer!

Killer...and how did i miss the color reversal....sure is shaped like the sky king, but with the reversal of colors. Don't all sky king ads which are clear enough to make out engraving show the fishy pattern vs this XX-XX-XX....  I don't remember, and maybe we decided we would go w/ Sky King whether fishy or XX-XX-
I'm thinking unknown because of tone reversal, not on the fishy ingraving pattern part of things.
What do ya' all think?

hmmmm..its opening up a can of worms agaion on the whole Sky King debate and this one just adds to the equation. I note in at least on advert it says yellow gold highlights on a white gold case and they all seem to have this trait. Reversal is a new one.

Totally original, maybe a SK, maybe not but unique and worth a fortune in my opinion.

(Now watch them come out of sock drawers everywhere!)

In case anyone is interested in comparison:

Beautiful pair.  Who wouldn't be interested....and identical color-reversed cases.  Wow...One to wear on Tuesdays and the other on Thursdays...  A dynamic duo!

And now an ad to match the XXX pattern.

From 1932 and from Lisa.

EDIT:- This blowup shows the engraving in better detail.
